Big Bass Splash

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Big Bass Splash is one of those games I booted up expecting five minutes and ended up playing through a whole evening. You cast out across different fishing spots, read the water, and try to reel in whatever's lurking down there. The controls are simple — a pull-back cast and a timing-based reel — but there's a nice rhythm to it that sneaks up on you.

What stood out to me was the atmosphere. The water has this gentle animated shimmer, the sound design is all soft splashes and distant birds, and each location feels a little different from the last. It's not trying to be a hardcore simulator. It's relaxed on purpose, and it's very good at being relaxed.

Progression keeps you nudging forward: new spots open up, your gear slowly improves, and there's a satisfying little collection of catches to fill out. I wouldn't call it deep, but it's polished and it knows exactly what kind of game it wants to be. Perfect for winding down.
